Leanne Atkin joined the Trust as a theatre practitioner in 2011. She works as part of the Wellcome Theatre team which is used for spinal surgery.
For 25-year-old Leanne, an important part of her development has been working alongside a wide range of colleagues who she has been able to learn from: “I really enjoy working in the operating theatres. We have a supportive, friendly team where the patients are our main focus.
“I enjoy liaising with the multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to meet with spinal representatives and increase my knowledge of the service.
“My role involves organising theatre lists and co-ordinating the daily running of our spinal theatres along with my colleagues, to ensure our theatres are well-prepared, run efficiently and provide the best in care.
“We’re also responsible for the barcoding, ordering and replenishment of spinal implants within the theatre.”
Leanne has also taken on team leader duties as part of her ongoing development: “I enjoy being a team leader as it has provided me with the opportunity to support colleagues, take on more responsibility and think of new ideas to improve the department.
“I’m looking forward to the next few years of my career at QEHB – I will continue to progress, evolve in my role and maintain high standards of patient care.”
